And We’re Back!

Anyone who follows this blog (so, mostly my parents) will have noticed I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus lately. There have been a number of contributing factors for this, but the main one is The Breakup™. About a week after my last post on here, my almost-three-year relationship came to a somewhat abrupt end. It went about as well as any breakup can, to be honest, and I think we’re going to remain good friends, but it was still hard and I’ve had to spend some time working through it emotionally.

ANYWAY.

Dealing with all this ‘feelings’ business has caused me to put my creative projects on the back-burner for the last few months, but I am pleased to announce that I am starting to feel almost-human again and ready to get back in the proverbial saddle.

I’ve bought a sexy new laptop with all kinds of bells and whistles (RIP my 2011 Sony Vaio); I’ve booked time off work in the New Year to focus on my novel; I’ve got a few ideas for new blog posts; and I’ve got an amazing friend/collaborator who has been super understanding as I’ve had to take a step back from our Top Secret Project. It might take a bit of time playing catch-up, but I am going to smash my targets and to-do lists, starting TODAY.

As well as not writing much, I’ve also been in a bit of a reading slump (although, if we’re being honest here, that pre-dates The Breakup™). But in the last few weeks, I’ve been reading a lot more because I am DETERMINED to finish Children of Blood and Bone before New Year’s (I started this book in July for crying out loud). I’m also in a bit of a race now as a friend of mine has started reading it too, and I’ll be damned if he finishes it before me!

After a few months of floating around like a ghost, I’m remembering what it’s like to be me again, and I’m super excited about throwing myself back into the things that give me joy. Look out, world – Ellen’s making a comeback!

    1. Thanks Shalini, it’s good to be back! Sorry to hear about your breakup in July, these things suck! Looking forward to getting back into writing and blogging, and hopefully doing a few more blog tours 😉
