Just a quick update today for anyone who has been following my Famous Five reading challenge with bated breath. The plan was to read all 21 books in Enid Blyton’s Famous Five series during the month of August, but I didn’t even come close.
I got about halfway through Book 10, because life and other hobbies and responsibilities got in the way. But hey, that’s still 9 more Famous Five books than I had ever read before! I’ll still aim to finish the box set at some point, but it’s quite nice not to have that pressure hanging over me any more.
This reading challenge also gave me a huge boost in my Goodreads reading challenge, wherein my aim was to read 20 books this year. I’ve now hit that number, so any books I finish between now and New Year’s are just a bonus!
I had a lot of fun reading these books, not just because of the adventure stories within them, but also in picking apart the bizarre social dynamics of the 40s and 50s that manifest themselves in The Famous Five. As an English grad, that sort of thing is right up my street! If you know me in real life, you probably heard me complaining about these books more than once, but I really was having fun, I promise!

On another note, I realise I have been slacking somewhat when it comes to blogging (and pretty much any other creative project I’ve been trying to work on). This month I’m going to try and get back on track, particularly with my creative writing.
In terms of blogging, this month holds some exciting projects for me, because I’ll be taking part in my first ever blog tours! I’ve never done anything like this before, and now I’m doing two in one month – wish me luck!
I’m in awe that you managed 10 books! I listen to audio books a lot now, I just never seem to have time to just relax and read.

Audio books are great! I only managed to read 10 of them because they’re so short haha x I’ve found that no-one ever really HAS time to read, you have to make that time yourself! Otherwise it’s too easy to get distracted by things that ‘need’ doing. x
