First blog post

Welcome to The Star Jar’s very first blog post! I suppose I should introduce myself: my name is Ellen and I’m a book lover who has just rediscovered my love of writing after years of thinking I’m just not good enough at it. It has taken me a long time to realise that it’s okay to be rubbish at writing, you just have to keep at it and you’ll get better and better with practise! While I am writing some fiction (more on that in future posts), I also have a lot of other ideas I want to write down, which is why I decided to start this blog.

What kinds of things will I be writing about? Good question! As this is a lifestyle blog, it will inevitably focus on the things I do, have, and experience in my life. While there is no limit to the topics I might discuss here, the main focuses are going to be books, stationery, writing, intersectional feminism, mental health, wellbeing, reviews and discussions (film, TV, books, anime, you name it), with maybe a bit of travel sprinkled in here and there. So if any of those topics interest you, you might want to stick around! You can sign up to receive email notifications whenever I post by clicking the ‘Follow’ button on the right side of this page, and you can follow me on Twitter and Instagram @StarJarBlog.

If you want to find out more about me you can check out my About page or if you have any specific questions or enquiries, you can fill out the form on my Contact page or message me on either of the social accounts I’ve linked to above.

I am so excited to start this blogging journey with you, and I hope you’ll stick around! I aim to be as active as possible and ultimately I’d love to foster a community here where people can really engage with each other and discuss interesting topics until the cows come home.

If not, I’ll carry on shouting my thoughts and opinions into the void anyway, because writing is fun!
